The Trenwith Stud was established in the
mid 1970s, originally breeding Welsh
Cobs and part-bred Cleveland Bays. In
the early 1980s Welsh Mountain Ponies
were added to the stud, including
Springbourne Gwilym, Lippens Nightcap
and Brierdene Golden Sovereign. Welsh
Ponies of Cob Type were a later addition
to the stud in the mid 1990s. There are
currently seventeen ponies at the stud
including Welsh Mountain Ponies, Welsh
Ponies of Cob Type and Welsh Cobs.
Lying on the A644 in the Calder Valley
of West Yorkshire, Mirfield is situated
between Dewsbury and Huddersfield in the
Kirklees area of West Yorkshire's Bronte
Country. Just 12 miles (20km) from
Leeds, it is an ideal location for
travelling throughout the North of
England as it is within easy reach of
excellent motorway connections, namely
the M1 (6 miles from Junction 40) and
M62 (3 miles from Junction 25). We are
also conveniently placed for
Leeds-Bradford Airport (30 minutes away
by car), and the Leeds-Manchester rail
link is within a two-minute drive of the
stud.
